At Mahj House Austin, we take great pride in the quality of our products and want you to love everything you purchase. Please review this policy before making a purchase.
Returns, Exchanges and Refunds
Unused items in their original condition, with original packaging and tags, are eligible for an exchange or full refund to your original form of payment within 14 days of receipt. After 14 days, all sales are final. Insert this after "Please review this policy before making a purchase." and before "Tile sets must be returned sealed in their original shrink wrap, with all components included, to qualify for a full refund."
Opened items in like-new condition (excluding defective items) may be returned within 7 days of receipt for store credit only, minus a 15% restocking fee.
All returns must be authorized in advance. Please email shop@mahjhouseaustin.com to request a return authorization before shipping anything back. We can't accept unauthorized returns. Buyers are responsible for all return shipping costs. Please include your name and order number in the package so we can process your return.
Final Sale Items
The following items are final sale and cannot be returned or refunded:
• Items purchased on sale
• Monogrammed or personalized items
• Gift cards
• Used items
Damaged, Defective, or Incorrect Orders
If your order arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, we want to make it right. Please email shop@mahjhouseaustin.com within 7 days of delivery with :
• Your order number
• A description of the issue
• Clear photos of the affected item(s) and packaging
After review, we'll work with you on the best resolution, which may be a replacement, store credit, or a refund. Requests submitted after 7 days may not be eligible. The unopened requirement does not apply to defects discovered upon opening. Mahj House does not cover return shipping for damaged, defective, or incorrect items.
Broken tiles after 7 days: For sets we currently carry, we'll work in good faith with the manufacturer to provide replacement tiles. For retired sets, we'll do our best to help locate a replacement.
Holiday Returns
Purchases made between Thanksgiving and Christmas may be returned through January 29, 2027, subject to the conditions above.
Refund Processing
Once we receive and inspect your return, we'll let you know the status of your refund. Approved refunds are processed within 5–10 business days to your original payment method.
Shipping & Duties
Mahj House Austin is not responsible for shipping delays, lost packages, or carrier issues once an order has been handed to the carrier. International customers are responsible for any duties, taxes, or customs fees charged on delivery, which are set by your country's customs authority.
Classes Booking & Payment
Full payment for a class or series is required upfront to confirm registration.
Cancellations & Refunds
• 7 or more days before the first class: full refund.
• Within 7 days of the start date: non-refundable, but may be transferred to
a future series if space allows.
• After the class or series begins: no refunds or credits for missed sessions.
• You're welcome to send a substitute participant with advance notice.
Make-Ups & Transfers
Because our classes are small, make-up sessions are not guaranteed. Transfers to a future class or series, or substitutions, may be arranged in advance if space allows.
In the event of inclement weather that prohibits Mahj House Austin from operating normal business hours, students will be notified and rebooked to the next available class.
Private & Offsite Events
Payment in full is required to reserve your date. Payment is refundable if you cancel more than three weeks before the event; within three weeks, payment is non-refundable.
Studio Policies
Studio etiquette: Please arrive 10 minutes early. We provide all tiles and materials. Please handle studio sets with care and respect other players' learning experience. Light refreshments and beverages are provided; outside food or drink is permitted only with advance approval. Please silence cell phones during play. All players must follow our Players' Code of Conduct, and violations will result in exclusion from future Mahj House Austin play.
Rules of play: All classes, guided sessions, open play, and tournaments follow National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) rules. For private table bookings, your group is welcome to play by your preferred rules.
Liability: By registering, participants acknowledge that Mahj House Austin is not responsible for personal injury or loss of property in the studio, parking lot, or on the premises during classes or events.
Photos & media: Participants may be photographed or recorded for Mahj House Austin social media and marketing. If you'd prefer not to appear, please let your instructor or hostess know before class.
Communication: Schedule changes, weather closures, and other updates will be sent by email or text to the contact information provided at registration. By registering, you consent to receive these communications.
Acknowledgment: By booking or attending a class or event, you confirm that you've read and agree to these policies.

This policy is effective as of June 15, 2026, and applies to purchases made on or after that date. Orders placed before June 15, 2026 are subject to the policy in effect at the time of purchase. Mahj House Austin may update this policy at any time; the policy in effect at the time of purchase applies to your order.
